FREDDY - Peace, Love and Recycling
The NGO Fredensborger runs the project FREDDY. FREDDY is based on the vision -
Peace of Clothing.
Norway produces more than 150.000 tonnes of textile waste annually! FREDDY loves t-shirts. That's why we collect, redesign, and trade the t-shirts you don't use. Our surplus is granted entirely to peace- and development projects.
Peace can be built in different ways. FREDDY believes in prudent consumption and fair allocation of resources as building blocks for peace. When you purchase a FREDDY-shirt you contribute to waste reduction and support an aid project in one go.
We sell our t-shirts at different markets and festivals in Norway. To this date it is not possible to buy the t-shirts online. To find out where you can buy the t-shirts, check our
calendar or
contact us (both in norwegian, sorry..). We currently have local groups of FREDDY in the Norwegian cities Oslo, Trondheim, Halden and Bergen.
We would be pleased to have you join our Facebook group, "Resirkulering for rettferd" ("Recycling for Justice"), where we also post news.

In 2010, FREDDY's surplus is assigned to the Jamdaha Village Project. The project works to enhance the living conditions for the people of Jamdaha village. The Jamdaha project activities include food distribution, development of local agriculture, solar energy utilisation, building restoration and education for village children.
2009In 2009, FREDDY's income was assigned to the NGO FUNPROEIB Andes in Bolivia, working for strengthening indigenous people's access to, and influence on, the educational system in the Andes region. More than 63% of the Bolivian population identify themselves as belonging to one of the 36 indigenous groups in the country. Indigenous people have less access to education, and often receive education of lower standard than the rest of the population. FUNPROEIB Andes works actively to improve the situation.
